Our smart trunk sensor upgrade allows you to open your trunk hands-free! Just walk up and place your foot on the projected beam on the ground, and you can open or close your trunk. This is a must-have upgrade!
Enhance your Tesla Model 3/Y (2020-2024) by installing the Distinct Teslas Light-Sensing Trunk Switch, which enables convenient hands-free operation for opening and closing the trunk. This innovative sensor responds to variations in light, allowing you to open your trunk with a mere gesture—eliminating the hassle of managing groceries or luggage.
Unlock Method
- Mechanical Key (Manual Unlock): Unlocking via key or app activates the AR sensor light and system, enabling foot-operated tailgate control.
- Mobile Key (Bluetooth Unlock): Approaching within 9 ft activates the sensor light. Once connected, step on the marker, wait for the light to flash, then lift your foot to open/close the tailgate. (Phone, vehicle, and product Bluetooth must be connected.)
How to Use:
Place the top of your foot over the indicator mark, ensuring it fully covers the entire mark. Hold your foot in place for about 1-2 seconds and observe if the indicator starts flashing. Once it flashes rapidly, remove your foot, and the trunk will open/close. If the indicator does not flash, lift your foot and repeat the process by placing it back over the mark.

OPERATIONS AND SAFETY MEASURES
Driving Status:
- When the vehicle is in P (Park), the light turns on; when in R (Reverse), the light stays off.
- When the vehicle is in N (Neutral) or D (Drive), the light stays off.
Note: If the vehicle is repeatedly switched to P (Park), the light will not turn on. However, it will illuminate when the driver or passenger door is opened.
Safety Measures:
- Correct Operation: Step on the indicator for 1-2s until it flashes, then lift your foot to activate.
- Invalid Actions: No response if:
- Foot stays for 3s before lifting.
- Foot remains after flashing.
- Using a toe or thin shoes, causing detection failure.
